The West at its Best

This is another of the wonderful old hotels that have been refurbished, in beautiful places around Oregon. Delightful staff, comfortable room with a decidedly old timey feel but contemporary comforts. Beautiful views across the Prairie at the Strawberry Mtns. in the distance. A little island of peace, beauty and kindness.

Worth the trip. A definite stop on the way to or from Portland, Eugene, Boise ….

This is a 5 star surprise in the middle of central Oregon. Everything: layout, furniture, bedding, towels, bathroom was over the top excellent. Great staff, .Renovation of this older hotel was top quality. Pleasant afternoon wine service, Spacious and comfortable parlor with good reading materiel and good light. There was a kitchenette in the back which was fully stocked with all one might need to prepare a meal. BZ Well done Prairie Hotel.

I wish I could give the Hotel Prairie SIX stars!!!

Wonderful place to stay! Extremely clean hotel and convenient to everything! Staff/owners are great as well. I needed to get to John Day Airport early on my day of departure. Unfortunately, there are no taxis nor are there any Uber drivers in town. Jenny gave me the number for the “bus service”. I called them; however, they did not run that early. When I mentioned this to Jenny, she said: “Let me check with my husband.” To make a long story short, Jason picked me up at 05:30 and I was at John Day Airport before 06:00! Definitely a five-star hotel!!! Thank you for a relaxing stay. See you next year!

Such a great place!

Staying in Prairie City is small town living at its finest.

Staying at Hotel Prairie is like going back in time to a simpler, quieter time.

This historic building is beautiful and comfortable. The rooms are simple, with updates to the bathrooms that match the quality of most any other hotel.

Eating establishments on the block and down the street also fit the bill of friendly small town diners and Dinner Houses and there’s a nice coffee shop.

Oh, the views! The Strawberry mountains are impressive! This area is a hidden jem … the Blue Mountains and the John Day River valley, so much to explore and enjoy. I’m looking forward to more trips or even moving to this area.

Make a plan to stay at Hotel Prairie and enjoy a quiet respite.

Hotel Prairie is totally worth it

If you are like me, you have been through Prairie City countless times without really noticing it. Don’t be like me.

Prairie City is a small gem in eastern Oregon. So quiet and peaceful, great restaurants, a good park for the dog and, if you look closely, there are tiny memorial plaques at the foot of the trees lining the main street. There’s even one over the motorcycle store.

But the crown jewel of this historic town is the Hotel Prairie. It’s been completely refurbished and no detail was too small in that process. Comfortable, clean and quiet, even the sheets smelled good. Nicely done.

Don’t stay in John Day. As you explore this part of the state, push on that extra 15 minutes and stay at the Hotel Prairie. You won’t regret it.
